Beware of that your passport have to be valid for at least 6 months after you plan to leave Albania. If not you will have problems to cross the border/customs.

By flight to Korfu and boat to Saranda

You can fly from many countries to Korfu in Greece by for example Norwegian, SAS, Ryan Air and others. There are also charter flights were you can buy flight chairs. You arrive at Korfu Airport. From the airport you go by taxi app. 15 minutes to the port. From the port the boat to Saranda leaves one-three times a day, depending of season. Se timetables at Ioanian Cruises

You buy tickets nearby the port at the ticket office (adress: Ionian Cruises Salepoint). Beware of that you need to show passports for all the passengers when buying the tickets. The one-way tickets costs around 19-24 EUR depending on season (2014). The trip takes 45 minutes (speedboat) or 1 hour 15 min (ferry).

Beware of that the time difference is one hour between Korfu (Greece) and Saranda (Albania). 

When you arrive at Saranda you reach the port on the northern part of the city. There you will pass the customs. If you arrive in July or August, sunblock and a sun hat is recommended though you may need to wait in line in the sun. When you have passed the customs you will find taxis that will bring you to your destination. 

Another alternative is to go from Korfu with boat to Igoumenitsa in Greece. The advantage with this solution is that the boat leaves many times a day (almost every hour during high season). The timetables for 2015 is still not available on internet (we will present a link as soon as possible). From here you can go with transfer to Saranda. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes by car.

When you leave Saranda you by tickets in the ticket office just above the port. You can either by tickets just before the boat leaves or some time before if you want to be sure to have a ticket. You have to bring all the passengers passport to be able to by tickets!

By flight to Tirana and transfer to Saranda

You can fly to Tirana International Airport, Nene Tereza. Here you can rent a car or arrange a transfer to go to Saranda. The distance is app. 280 km and it takes around 3 hours 30 minutes non stop. The cost will be around 150 EUR depending on season and car size.

Another alternative is to go from the airport to the Tirana city centre bus station. From there you can go by bus to Saranda. It takes about 7-8 hours and costs app. 10 EUR.  Read more about busses from Tirana

You arrive in Saranda at the central busstop where you can find local taxis.

 

 

By flight to Greece (Ioaninna or Preveza) and transfer to Saranda

You can fly to Ioannina in Greece from several big citys in Greece for example Athens and Thessaloniki with Aigan Airlines. From here you can go by transfer to Saranda by passing the border. It is app 75 km and it takes about 1,5-2 hours depending on the time for passing the border.

You can also fly to Lefkas/Preveza in Greece. Lefkas/Preveza is a big charterdestination and you can normally by flight chairs with direct flights from many cities in Europe. From the airport it is 170 km and it takes about 3 hours to go to Saranda depending on the time for passing the border.

You can't rent a car in Greece and bring it into Albania. The car rentals doesn't allow it according to their rules (2014).
